Ceramic Cafes, or "Paint A Pot Studios" are a rapidly growing business opportunity throughout the country having been firmly established for over ten years in the USA. The concept is simple; the Studio is based in a modern cafe style environment with tables and chairs where customers decorate pottery with ceramic colours, whilst enjoying some light-refreshment.

The Studio uses unglazed pottery that has already been fired once known as "bisque"; once the customer has decorated their chosen piece it is then glazed and fired in the Studio kiln. Studio staff are on hand to offer friendly advice throughout the process. Customers revisit the Studio within a couple of days to collect their fired pieces.

Hobby Ceramic Studios were first started in the United States in the 1940s with the introduction of Brush-On Ceramic colours and glazes.

Ceramic Cafes appeal to a wide age range and are of course immensely popular with children together with parents who struggle to keep their hands off the work often painting a piece themselves; in fact ceramic painting appeals to just about everyone.

While a High Street location is ideal, there are many other possibilities for example in Garden Centres, Leisure and Holiday Centres. Ceramic Cafe ownerp are primarily motivated by business considerations, whilst enjoying the busy atmosphere of this people-centred activity.
